How would one enter day of birth (469 B.C.) and day of death (399 B.C.) of Socrates in Tinderbox?
two things:
First: if you’re going to do much of this, set your system preferences short date format to include era, and choose the era style you prefer. Otherwise, you’re going to be typing about the Peloponnesian War in 411 and Tinderbox is going to put you somewhere in the reign of Theodosius II.
Second: negative years should generally be interpreted as BC/BCE.
Caveat: Some of the date arithmetic functions (years(), for example) don’t handle the absence of a year 0 correctly, and so may be off by one when spanning the boundaries of the era.
