I’ve been using Keyboard Maestro to create a dialog box for some zip link data entry and thought you might find the example useful.
It’s not what you’re asking, but it may be interesting to see that a user has set this up for herself, and (2) values the ability to make a choice about when to use it (CMD+Shift+/ vs CMD+Shift+.)
