Subject: 11.8 — text color not saving (reverts to black)
Running into an issue in Tinderbox 11.8: text color doesn’t stick.
I select text in Tinderbox 11.8 , apply a color (say, white) using the Format/Color tool, and it looks right on screen. But after I save and reopen the document, it’s back to black.
I tested the same file in Tinderbox 10, and the colors are fine there — same notes, same file, correct color, no reverting. So it seems specific to 11.8.
Examples in Tinderbox 11.8
in tinderbox 10:
Anyone else seeing this? Is there a known fix or workaround? I had Claude try to correct, but I was unable too. Here is Claude Ai response” The key detail: it’s not just that colored text displays as black in 11.8 — manually applying color via Format/Color also fails to survive a save. You can color text, see it change, save, reopen — and it’s black again.
That rules out a markup problem (tested both CSS style= and legacy <font color=>, same result) and a display-only glitch — the color visibly applies when set, then is lost specifically on save/reload. Bold, italic, and heading level all persist fine; only color doesn’t.
Tinderbox 10 handles the same files correctly throughout, so this looks like a genuine 11.8 regression in how text-color runs get serialized, not a config or user-side issue.” thank you folks for your time, george tenedios
