It’s likely to be a couple of years.
I’m writing a lot these days, chiefly to explore pieces of this argument.
* Amiability and the Web: Lessons from Red Vienna and the Origin of Computing (ACM Web Conference) is based on part of Chapter 2, on how computing got started
• What is it like to be Augmented? (ACM Hypertext) is part of Chapter 13, on augmenting people.
• Information Interfaces In The Antique World (ACM Human ’25) draws on chapters 3 (Communicating) and 4 (What is text?)
• Back To The Information City (ACM Hypertext, with Mark Anderson and Silas Hooper) doesn’t have a home in the book, yet, because the project started after the current outline was sketched.
I have a little mailing list for people who might like to see fragments like these before the book comes together. Email bernstein@eastgate.com if you like.
