I find adornments very helpful for organizing my work/thinking; I don’t seem to see them in outline view. Is it possible to make them “appear” there?
Adornments are a map-only† feature and have been since outset. Their functional equivalent is the outline-only separator note. The fact that separators, unlike adornments, can act as containers was an accident of their birth and not the original intention.
Lest you wonder adornment are a special type of note and can only be created on a map and cannot be converted to converted to something else, e.g. a normal note. Conversely, a note can be made into a separator via an attribute setting ($IsSeparator) or via the UI using the the Inspector.
†. A slight quirk is that if an adornment has a $StartDate and $EndDate, it will show up in Timeline view. But, you can’t create an adornment in that view.
This occurred to me just as posted above…
This is based on the assumption that $StartDate and $EndDate (the defaults) are used for the Timeline. An option in a Timeline’s settings option is available to set either/both to other Date-type attributes. Not tested, but I assume that the adornment only shows in the Timeline if it has start/end dates defined using the same Date-type attributes as the Timeline.
I hope that isn’t confusing. As a toolbox of possibilities rather than a set of ‘canned’ behaviours, Tinderbox has all sorts of edge behaviours like this. Most folk don’t need them, but if you do, you do!
