Cursor in agent query box (get info) disappears after paste of text in the query

Hello,
I have noticed this issue a while back and my workaround usually has been to write the query first in a text editor.
Am I the only one with this problem? (no luck searching the forum)

  • I type some query/text,
  • paste some text from somewhere else,
  • the cursor is gone.

Also, a vertical scroll bar in the query box would be nice.

Regards,
Philippe

No other reports, and I could not reproduce this in 10.1.2 when following your instructions above.

Could the cursor be on a line lower in the text? Scrolling using the mouse wheel/two finger scrolling might solve your problem.

Very complex queries might more easily be done using a function, or a series of agents.

To where are you pasting the query. The normal/expected locations are the query inspector or the Get Info/agent pop-over.

If pasting into a small text box like $AqentQuery, most lightly the pasted martial is >1 line and the input box in the Displayed Attributes table is only one lane high. The letter is not recommended as a sensible place to enter/review queries for just this sort of reason. If you must use Displayed Attributes as means to display queries, consider setting the attribute to use use several lines in the table (see the v’lines’ setting here)

Hello,
In the screenshot attached (actually did not paste anything this time), the cursor is after the dot of “$Text.”

This looks like a macOS issue the I encounter from time to time in various apps. Clicking on/off the app to unset/reset app focus (not in-app re-focus) normally sorts the issue. The cause? I’ve no idea.

I just tried this:

  • Close/Open Tinderbox
  • Get Info on agent and click on query ==> cursor missing
  • Click on attributes then agent ==> cursor is visible

Sometimes the clicking needs to be done a few times.

At least a work around - thanks - will keep testing.
