Is there a way to have the list of the inbound links sorted?
Do you mean a custom sort of the links pane? I believe that isn’t possible. In fact I’m not sure what the default sort of inbound links is in that list: I’ve not seen it described anywhere.

I think the list is sorted by outline order of the source link.
