In this 5Cs Tinderbox lesson, in response to a question raised during the Mastering Tinderbox course I’m teaching (see below), I go over three methods on how you can copy and paste rich formatted text from a web page (or Google Docs, MS Word, or similar app) into Tinderbox and then how you can explode the text into individual notes. There are many reasons why you might want to do this, a primary one being that you want to take notes on the items in the outline of the copied text. The three methods I explain are 1) paste with manual delimiters, 2) paste unformatted text (aka paste special), and 3) use Obsidian as a pass-through to convert the formatted text to markdown (a popular shorthand for writing HTML-styled text). In this lesson, I also explain how we can use regular expressions (regex) to explode the text, such as exploding at digits (\d). I also show how we can use BBEDIT, a text editing tool, to see the hidden characters embedded in the text, which can help us with using regex to explode the text. In this case, there were tabs (\t) in the text.
