Try holding the SHIFT key down when you open it. This will open up Tinderbox fresh i.e., prevent it from automatically opening files that may be causing your crash.
Tinderbox 7.5.3 goes back to June 2018. High Sierra (10.13) was the current operating system, Mojave had just been announced. The Red Sox were headed to the World Series. Apple Silicon wasn’t even thought of.
Tinderbox 7.5.3 is 41 releases out of date. (Upgrades from any previous version are $98 and include a full year of updates)
That said, I fired up a copy on my Apple Silicon M1 (15.3.2) and it seems fine. The crash log is, unfortunately, not very informative.
But these are not an indication of OS forward compliance. @eastgate’s test with macOS 15.3.x would suggest the issue you see isn’t generic.
This introduces ambiguity for those of use trying to help. Are you saying implicitly that v8.x works on your OS, but not ve 7.x? Can you clarify. Have you tried reinstalling v7?
I have been using Tinderbox 8 Trial version in the meanwhile. Upgrading might solve my problem, but I don’t have the funds right now. I want to use my last registered version which is 7.5.3 and was working fine 3 months ago.
If I reinstall version 7, will it appear as registered?
Ok. I tried the shift-key trick, and it works now! I think the file I had open by default was faulty. I opened it in the trial version of TBX-8, and noticed it had a floating “Text window” for one note. So I closed the floating window and saved the file. Then I opened it with version 7, and it did not crash.
