In this Tinderbox meetup, we had an open discussion focused on improving Tinderbox workflows and exploring how Tinderbox can work with AI tools. Mark Bernstein shared updates about the upcoming Tinderbox 11.7 release and invited humanities users to get in touch. Much of the session covered practical techniques, especially moving action code out of constantly running rules or edicts and into OnVisit, stamps, or library actions to make files more responsive. The group also discussed using Tinderbox for email templates and mail-merge-like workflows. A major theme was Tinderbox as a higher-level thinking and orchestration layer for AI systems such as Claude Code, Obsidian, DevonThink, Zotero, local LLMs, and MCP tools, with emphasis on persistent context, privacy, provenance, and personal data control. The meeting closed with a discussion of better AI prompting, especially using precise language, constraints, and asking AI to help generate cleaner prompts for new sessions.
