Here is a most valuable starter file for creating and understanding posters, first shared by @eastgate earlier this year.

Note from the end of todays show (recording being processed) re Guides [ping: @archurhh] , is in the concept of snap-to-grid, are used in Only in Map view (see Map grid & guides) and can be toggled via the view menu (ticked is ‘on’). Note that there is no shortcut control for guides nor a a modifier key to overrule the ‘snap’ function.

It is fairly easy to spot if map guides are on as you will see little blue lines indicating what Tinderbox’s spatial parser thinks you might be wanting to do.

Something that does overrule the gird is pressing the Shift key before dragging a note (even if not yet selected). The Shift modifier restricts movement to only the X or Y axis of movement, the choice being made based on the initial direction of drag. If you get constrained X and wanted the constraint in Y, just stop and try again with more deliberate initial movement on the chosen axis.

Many aspects of the older Guides system is now passed to the View ▸ Align sub-menu. For all except the last two items on the menu, the reference note, whose edge/centre is used to set the alignment, is the first item in the selection. If the result of align is wrong, undo and re-make the selection with the ‘reference’ note selected first. For width or height alignment the widest or highest in the whole selection is automatically the reference value.

I just updated page Arrange sub-menu to reflect better some of the points above.

Is there a recording from yesterday?
