Tinderbox Training Video 62- Dynamically create notes from attributes with functions

In names, “@” is a shorthand that indicates the context or location for the note. For example,

Buy bagels @ Deli

Links the note “Buy bagels” to the Place “Deli”.

Relatedly,

Eowyn # Person

is a shorthand for naming a note Eowyn with the prototype Person.

You can disable this in Document Preferences:

Thanks for sharing!

I upgraded to TBX 10 yesterday, the Settings cannot be accessed.

No matter using mouse click or the hotkey (command + ,), it is showing the Registration info instead.

Therefore I cannot try and configure it. I restarted TBX 10 and same problem persist.

Document Settings is ⌘-8. You’re looking at Preferences, which (obviously) is wrong. But it’s a different thing, and that’s not what I see. What macOS do you use?

Great. It works after using Command-8. Thanks.

The version is Sonoma 14.5. I restarted laptop completely to test again, no luck.

Dear eastgate,
Thank you very much for your detailed explanation.
As a symbol to be set in the context or prototype Person
I understand the meaning of @ and #.
The place where I can cancel this setting is Document Preferences:
It was completely unexpected.
I am currently reviewing the Training Video one by one.
Lastly, I would like to thank Dr. Michael Becker.

P.S.
Next up is the ability to send email replies directly from my Tinderbox.
I would like to learn.

Hi all, I’ve been traveling. I’m sorry for jumping in late.

By default, a TBX file has note names containing @ and #. @ creates a place, and # assigns a prototype.

If you go to the document settings, you’ll find these options:

I personally disable this setting since I write in markdown and have # for headings all the time and I use @ to refer to people or citations.
