Using the timeline view in read only mode

When I use the timeline and select an item often happen that accidentally it is dragged from the original position, changing the event attribute.

This is a useful behavior when you are planning but not very useful when you are working on a chronological view of elements created in the past.

Is there a way to avoid the dragging in that situation?

There is no way to lock the view/display. But, you could use a Stamp or prototype rule to set all descendents of the view container to $Lock=true;
